In recognition of independence, this work has 64 stars representing the 50 states and 14 territories the United States occupies. The red stripe represents the blood spilled and the road traveled to make this country surrounded by a blue sky. The red and the blue are the same as the colors of the flag of the United States of America. The feet represent the African bodies who built this land with their blood, sweat and tears.
