Some things we can control, while others we cannot. We can’t stop time, or seasons. What we can do is enjoy them for reminding us our time is fleeting.

Meet Charles White
Born and raised in Chicago, Charles White Jr created art work that captured moments in African American history. Some of Charles White Jr’s work is on display at the Art Institute of Chicago, where White was once a student. His artwork spans four decades revealing his life experiences and how they changed over time.
White went to work as a full-time artist for the Illinois Art Project as part of the Work Progress Administration as an easel painter. One of his accomplishments was painting the Kitchenette Debutantes which invited the world into living conditions of the south side of Chicago.

Sometimes the kindness is crazy out of this world. It doesn’t look like anything you have ever seen. It comes from and to people you don’t know. Sometimes it comes from people you have known a long time. Love it. Share it.

Sometimes it is most difficult to give kindness to the person you think least deserves it. This week I have been challenged in being kind to folks who have frustrated me. I have to dig deep to find it. So dig deep y’all.

Living It, Breathing It, Being It
You may have noticed that each month I have posted a word as an affirmation. It has been an attribute one can develop that will help them live a full life. As I have posted, I have experienced.
This past month’s word has been patience.
During the month of August I have had the opportunity to practice patience. It has been stretched to limits I didn’t even know I had. Daily as I waited for things to happen, I was reminded of the character I was developing. It was not my intention to practice this. It has not been easy, but it has been fun.
I have not been waiting on a word from a doctor, or a job or some miraculous event.
It has just been everyday things. But there have been other attributes, like love.
and joy
In the beginning, I was not paying attention or making direct connections to what was happening around me and the words for each month. But as I experience more of them, it really makes me conscious of which words are chosen.

But the truth is I have loved all of them. They are a part of me and I guess my hope is that they will be a part of you too.
