In 2022 my photography will tell a story, about me. Why do I take the photos I take? What inspires me? In the month of January I will share one of the things I love, riding the L. This train takes you all over the city and gives you a glimpse of what a beautiful city it is. I love the creativity that created this city.

There are buildings, rivers, you name it. It all comes together in these images that show you the city’s personality.

One of the things that make you appreciate gentleness are things that are harsh. There was a moment in last winter that was so rough we won’t forget it for a long time. It shut down parts of North Texas and crashed their electric grid. I remember it because I was there. The Ice was thick. The Air was cold. It was harsh.

It has definitely made me appreciate those winter days where the sun shines or there is a soft wind from the south. Sometimes hard things make us appreciate soft things.

Even in the dark there is a gentleness to winter. One of the things I love about snow is that it illuminates wherever it is. A little bit of light goes a long way.

We are having a snow drought this winter. But I am still hopeful. This image is from a previous winter, but it reminds me that snow is like a protective cover. It allows us to rest. Find your rest this month.

She leaves them bare naked but she is just preparing them for what is to come. Are you ready?

Fall rain is cool. Unlike spring rain that pumps life into the earth, the fall just keeps it going. This puddle reflected the nice day it helped create with the rain.

The colors of autumn send a signal to us that things are changing. They are beautiful and fleeting.

The smell of dust burning as the radiator comes on for the first time. The hiss of the steam as it comes out of the pipes for the first time of the season. I am grateful for a warm spot.

Leaves start to fall. You can’t stop it. You don’t want to.

Sometimes our kindness is not met the way we think it ought to be met. For beautiful green land, we dump trash everywhere. For clean air to breathe, we fill with pollutants. But kindness continues to follow us. So we should meet it with the same kind of crazy kindness.
