Christians are preparing to celebrate God coming to earth during the month of December. This month we will focus on His attributes. Isaiah 9:6 tells us He is a mighty God. He is a powerful God, someone with strength. Remember that this week as you encounter problems. God is mighty.
The Bible teaches us that from our hearts everything about our life flows from it. What we love and believe in our hearts determines how we see the world around us.
We need to be careful about the things we allow to influence our hearts. We need to guard it.
The people who surround your life will determine what type of life you have. They will decide if your life is full of joy or focused on what you don’t have. So pick your village carefully.
When I say village I mean your friends, family members you hang with, where you work and what you do. All of this determines your quality of life.
I have great family and friends because of how we chose to have a relationship. We set healthy boundaries. This doesn’t mean our lives are perfect. It just means we have our own definition of good.
I am guilty of it. Sometimes I save up all the questions to handle them on one day of the week. But I cheat myself when I do that because God has something to say to me everyday. I miss out.
Study God’s word daily. He has something to day to you. Listen. I mean knows how everything ends.
I am spending my day watching Hamilton to remind myself of what this country is all about. Granted, it was not built with me in mind, but I’ll take it. Our idea of government was designed for white male landowners. It had to ensure that the people of Rhode Island had the same power as the people of Pennsylvania. But from this people came ideas like the story of Alexander Hamilton.
I early voted so I am sitting back and waiting on the results like everyone else. What I love about it is we are seizing the opportunity to make the system work for us, even though it is not easy. People have ideas of what the United States is all about, but we are all beginning to see that it is not what we thought. It is even better. We gotta werk!
I have participated in the voting process since I was 18. I love it. I believe in it. I have seen it work, but you have to commit to it. I am excited that so many people have registered and voted. It is going to make the jury pool look amazing.
This country is designed to work with citizens participating in the process. We have gotten lazy and wanted someone else to do it for us. We have settled for the lazy, criminal element and have lived with the consequences of it. 2020 is the year we hold people accountable. It is the year we take back our process.
Remember ya’ll we are still a relatively a young country. Lets not throw away our shot.
In How to Raise a God Wise Kid, I explain that prayer has to become something you do all the time. It has to become a way of life. Eventually you learn that you are a better person for it.
Being persistent doesn’t always mean you beat it like a hammer. Sometimes you find creative methods to approach something that has been hard. Come at it from a different direction. Just don’t give up.
Sometimes you have to sit in the confidence of knowing who you belong to. For me, Jesus Christ has me on a path and I trust Him to complete it. He has taught me that He knows me well and plans for it.
