Affirmation

In Revelation 14:12 the Lord says his believers are to have patient endurance. It is what will allow us to make it through our trials and sufferings. It is not what I want to hear, but it is what I need to hear. It also gives God time to work.  This week I learned God’s view of justice and my view of justice are different.  He is able to bring all of the right circumstances and people together to create something my limited mortal mind cannot. He also said, He would be with me during this time. Endurance is teaching me trust.

Affirmation

Harris has spent her life working consistently and diligently towards her goals.  She has become an example of what discipline looks like.  She doesn’t allow circumstances to decide whether she is competent. Discipline reminds her every day who she is.

Affirmation

Discipline looks like that trip to the gym where you pick up the weight and begin to make the same movement over and over again. You are strengthen the muscle and making yourself stronger.

Every morning, I get up and spend time with God. Some mornings it is regular speed, sometimes it is in a hurry. Yet the discipline of doing it teaches me the importance of that time and carving it out every day.

Affirmation

Purpose can create amazing results.

Hurston spent time exploring African American culture which resulted in a book that was published in 2018.

She wrote a book with the hopes of it being published during her lifetime, but it wasn’t. We are better off because she did the work regardless of what she thought would happen with it. We have a book that has a first person account of being kidnapped into slavery.

Affirmation

Hurston spent time exploring African American culture. There were probably great days when she found amazing things to write about.

There were times when it was boring and times when things didn’t work out. But she continued. Sometimes purpose evolves over time.

We have to expect moments of boredom and the desire for the thing has to keep us going.

Affirmation

We are all here for a purpose.

The specific tasks will change over your lifetime, but the goals and aims will remain.  Hurston did many things, but she was faithful in telling the stories of our people. She wrote short stories and books. She danced and performed.  She was able to express your purpose in many ways.

Affirmation

Zora Neale Hurston wrote about issues in the African American community during her lifetime. As a writer and ethnographer, she captured the African American experience during a time of racial division, but also a lot of growth in the community. Hurston worked within her purpose. She was a storyteller who told wonderful stories about the people she met and all that she experienced.
