Royalty of Music

What are two of the most popular songs to listen to when you hit the road?

Prince’s 1999 and Springsteen’s Born to Run were at the top of many lists of recommended songs to listen to while on a road trip. I remember when music came out on 8 Track Tapes. People had them in their cars and home. They had stacks of tapes. It was another way to listen to music.

Born to Run was released by Bruce Springsteeen in 1975 on Columbia Records. It sold more than six million copies.

1999 was released by Prince in 1982 on Warner Bros. It has sold over 4 million copies.

Whats Your Walk Up Song?

My favorite part of going to a Texas Rangers baseball game was the walk up music. Each player had a song that they chose to have playing when they walked up to bat. The right song could get the crowd going. It was fun.

After that experience I decided I needed a walk up song. But there are so many to choose from it is hard to pick.

But when I am on the road, I have many songs that I listen to. Music will make or break your mood. Choose very carefully the things you listen to when you are on the way to somewhere, especially if that somewhere is important.

This month is gonna be about the road music. I have looked through several list of what are the songs most people listen to on a roadtrip. Where the Streets Have No Name by U2 is at the top of the list. Joshua Tree is a good album, but Rattle and Hum is my favorite U2.

I drew a CD because that is a form music came in. We will look at different forms music came in, and this is the first one I will mention. I still have CDs and a CD player.

Make sure you watch the official video on YouTube. It captured a moment. And that is what music does. It captures a moment. Make good moments this month.

Only You…

So I have this song stuck in my head, but I only know 2 words.  It makes me giggle.

So I walked into my mechanic’s office and explained the problems with the car. He answered by breaking out in song. I could not help but laugh as he continued to sing through my distress. After he sang a little, he looked at me and laughed.

The best part was he reminded me of where my source and help comes from. As I stood ready to talk business. He reminded me that God was my protector and has control of our lives. He reminded me that nothing happens in our lives without God.

Now he did roll his eyes at me for wanting him to do the repairs the same day. ( I got there two hours before he closed.) He also continued to sing.

A couple of days later, as he was going over the repairs with me, we talked about family. He said family gatherings are about love and respect for each other. He gave me a hug, a kiss and wished me Merry Christmas.

I paid for car repairs, but got a whole lot more.

As you are meeting with your family and friends this holiday season, and getting caught up in the festivities, remember to love and respect one another. When things start going to the contrary, just sing.
