Searching For the Enemy
Sometimes the most important things we take on a journey are the things packed in our minds. The stories in our heads can feel like all there is. So we need to make sure our minds are filled with good stuff that will aid us in the journey. Our thoughts. Our hopes. Our dreams.
As God teaches me His truths and how to live, I find that I try them on like clothes. Some fit like skinny jeans good and snug, while others like a loose wide sleeved blouse that flows with the wind. Rest has become an old friend who I see every now and then, while Peace has been a constant companion.
Balance is my nemesis. When I would really like to focus on that one thing, balance reminds me otherwise. I can’t work on projects all the time. I can’t hang out with family all the time. Why do I have to choose? Sometimes it is about finding balance between the things you love.
I am also reminded that it is really about the dance. Dances don’t last forever. They have clear beginnings, middles, and ends. Just like us. We have to recognize where we are in the process.
With a healthy dose of “I can conquer the world” comes our doubts. Our fears. Our shortcomings. It keeps me balanced. It keeps my head in the game. It reminds me where I am at in the journey.
Your Best Companion: Peace
Remember to Take This With You
When you go on a journey, one of the things you have to remember to do is rest. Sometimes you get so caught up in the adventure you wear yourself out. Schedule breaks. Rest and enjoy the process.

Shadows Show Where the Light Is
Knowing where the light is allows you to move freely. If you having problems, find the light.

Go Fast Furious Faithful
to whatever God called you to. Be all in even if you don’t believe Him for it.
This month I am reading Becoming by Michelle Obama. I am struck by her determination to do things. I love the story about how she fought with her great aunt over piano lessons. Be so fired up for your cause that you are at the recital sitting on the piano bench in front of the audience before you realize you don’t know where middle C is.
As the BSF teaching leader reminded us last week, remember it is not about the achievement, it is about the journey. Be true to the journey.
The other book I read this month was Frederick Douglass Prophet of Freedom. He was another so determined in his cause that the journey was fascinating. He took the initiative to learn to read and write even though it was illegal. He didn’t want to miss anything.
That is the way we need to be. Be true to your journey.
When You Know Better You Do Better
Food is a lot of things to me. On this journey, I am learning something new. One of my favorite foods is tacos and I always fool around with the recipe to make them better. I have learned to make meatless tacos and love them. Not only that, my body loves them.
Here is the recipe.
I use Gardein Beefless Ground.
I brown it in a pan (because I southern I use bacon grease, but you really don’t need any oil to brown this)
Once it is brown, I let it sit on a paper towel to absorb the oil. I mix taco seasoning and water in the pan.
Then I pour meatless ground into the mixture. At this point, I also add fresh pico de gallo.
I let it simmer about 15 minutes so the flavors can mix. I warm tortillas in the oven.
Once the mixture is ready, I add it to the tortilla along with cheese and salsa. I enjoy this more than I imagined I would. And the thing that sold me was that I did not have heartburn like beef sometimes gives me. All of the pleasure and none of the pain.
Walk Through That Summer Heat
This is for you. You need to hear this. Everything I have needed on this journey God has brought right on time.
Instead of sitting and worrying about my needs, I am preparing for His answers to my prayers. Instead of trying to figure something out, I am preparing for the promise He put in my heart.
Some of yall are on board while others of you are hanging out on the platform trying to see which way the wind is blowing. What I have learned is you can’t get on a train while it is moving.
Don’t let the doors shut on the opportunity in front of you. Trust the one who created it for you.
