Monday Morning Image

In place of still photography, I will replace it with video and sound to create thought provoking art for the month of August. I did the video work, but the music is by William Rosati, titled Sulking.

As these leave were floating in the water, it made me think of how this year is passing for some. We are the leaves just floating at whatever pace the water sets for us.

Where are you going?

When You Come For Me

You better be in for the long haul. This is a new series I am starting on called Portrait of Evangelical Racists.

I am working with new stuff, but it is proving to be worth it. For some reason strangers think they can come at you on social media, and it started me to thinking. How dare you freely give away your racism like you preaching God’s word. I didn’t ask for that. But I see it for what it is. People always trying to put their hate behind the bible.

I expect this series to grow.

Welcome to JuneTeenth Month

In June, I will celebrate with photos of art that allow us to reflect on our history.

This is a Boli Fetish Figure from the Bamana people of Mali in West Africa. It is referred to as a fetish because it possessed a magical power representing a spirit that controlled some aspect of their life. It would get rid of disease or punish someone doing wrong in the community.

It was created of animal bones, feathers, vegetable matter, metal, mirror, and other organic matter.

Mesmerizing Images

Our world is changing. The riots in cities across the United States have me mesmerized. Anger and frustration is being released but is building up to something else.

The year 2020 is showing to be a pivotal year. It is a year unlike any I have experienced. It will be remembered as a year of impeachment, pandemic and riots. We are only half way through it.

All these images are from CNN covering the riots that have taken place in the last couple of days.

The artistic way the photographers tell the story puts the viewer front and center.
